Flaxseed Hair Gel
Cup Water
1 Tablespoon Flaxseed, whole
1 Teaspoon Honey (for shine and curl hold)
Teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin (a preservative)
1/16 Teaspoon Citric Acid (a preservative) (a pinch)
2-4 Drops Lavender Oil
2-4 Drops Rosemary Oil (a preservative)

Boil the Flaxseed, honey, Citric acid and Glycerin until thick about 5 minutes. If you want the gel thicker boil it longer.  Ive seen up to 15 minutes of boiling time.  Pour into a glass container and add the essential oils.  Let cool and use just like hair gel.

This is the best shelf stable recipe I have found but if you want to be sure it will last stick it in the refrigerator.

Coconut Cuticle and Eye Cream
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoon Coconut Butter
Teaspoon Beeswax

Melt all together and pour into container.  Let cool completely.  Use around eyes and cuticle to soften and condition the skin.  Would also be good to remove makeup. This make enough for 3  2oz containers.

Cooling Eye Gel

1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera Gel
1 Teaspoon Fresh Cucumber Juice, strained
Teaspoon Cornstarch
1 Tablespoon With Hazel

1.         Heat on very low heat Aloe, Cucumber juice and cornstarch.  With a whisk gently dissolve the cornstarch.     Very little heat is needed if at all.  The goal is to dissolve the cornstarch
2.         Once its dissolved take off the heat.
3.         Mix in the witch hazel and let cool completely.

This light Gel is used to sooth and moisturizes tired eyes.  It can be used under makeup in the morning or at the end of the day as a quick pick-me-up.  It is designed to smooth and tighten the eye skins pores.

I went to a Burt's Bees conference and heard that Fluoride toothpaste was bad for you.   I said "Rrrright!."  Then I went home and did my research and was amazed to discover they were right.  I discovered that Fluoride shuts down the thyroid and that Japanese studies found that older people had more hip bone fractures because the Fluoride was leaching the calcium out of their bones over time.  There are no clinical studies on Fluoride!  No proof that it actually helps your teeth.  So you do your research too.  The information's out there.   There are some products that can be found without fluoride like Burt's Bees, and Toms of Main,  but I like to do a lot of things myself and this is my current Recipe.

Where did I get my information?
Different herbalists including Dr James Duke "The Green Pharmacy", Lesely Tierra "The Herbs of Life", British Herbalist David Hoffman "The New Holistic Herbal"

There are many other herbs that are used for the teeth. I once used licorice but stopped because Licorice raises blood pressure.
Allergic reactions should be paid attention to.  Know what you put in your body.  You can be allergic to anything at any stage of your life.  If you didn't have allergies when you were young you can develop them when you're older.

These next two recipes have been adapted from "Organic Body Care Recipes" by Stephanie Tourles.  The Bath Salts can be to heal or just to Relax.  The Baby Powder can be used like any other Powder but doesn't have an Talc which has been found to cause cancer or Corn Starch which is thought to cause thrush and yeast infection.

Basic Bath Salts

Cup Epson Salts (or Sea salt, Dead sea salt, etc)
Cup Baking Soda
3 tablespoons to a cup of Herbs of your choice (optional)
20 drops of essential oil of your choice

Combine the Salt and baking soda with the Essential oils.  Place the herbs in either a 10 by 10 cloth and tie at the top, tea bag of your choice or loose in the bath (not easy to clean after the bath is over).  Dissolve the Baking Soda mix in the bath water.  Place the bath tea bag under the tap and let the water run through it as your filling the bath.  Then place the herbal tea bag in the water.

Baby Powder

C Arrowroot
1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Tablespoon + teaspoon Rice Flour
2 teaspoon Lavender flowers (dry)
2 teaspoon Calendula flowers (dry)
2 teaspoon Rose buds (dry)
4 Drops Lavender Oil
4 Drops Rosewater Oil

In a coffee mill grind the lavender flowers, calendula flowers and rose buds to a fine powder.  Combine the herbal powder with the Arrowroot, baking soda and rice flour.  Add the essential oils and store the mixture in an airtight container for three days to let all the ingredients permeate the powder.
